Are you bothered by the noise that comes from your dishwasher every time you turn it on? The rattling, clanking, or grinding sound could come from several sources, so here’s a step by step guide for you to eliminate the problem:
Check for any rusty or squeaky parts in the heater fan. Defective parts need to be replaced.
Locate the water inlet valve at the bottom side of the dishwasher and replace it if it is faulty. An old water inlet valve could sometimes stop functioning correctly. Check if it is faulty by switching it on and off every few seconds. If it is faulty, it can sometimes cause shaking or rattling noise.
Remove the lower rack and spray arm, removing all screws as you go. Find the propeller located under the lower spray arm and see if it has any debris. Remove anything that could be causing the problem.
Check the dishwasher’s motor beneath the pump. Is the plastic dish broken? That could be another reason for the rattling noise. If that is the case, it needs replacement.
Worn out bearings on the motor need to be replaced.
If the noise is still there, the entire motor might have to be replaced.
